Communities and trends in the spotlight when TikTok predicts 2023

TikTok’s 2023 trend report is here. The report analyzes how trends and communities form and how we, as marketers, best can utilize the platform. Especially how trends form is interesting. TikTok has defined three categories for trends. “Moments” are short lived, dances and sounds for example. “Signals” are shifts in a specific vertical, these can live on for a year. Lastly, we have “Forces” which are big cultural shifts that live on for years. As a marketer it can be tempting to mainly focus on “Trends”, but that requires us to be quick on the trigger, but to truly succeed on TikTok we need to understand and master “Signals” and “Forces”.
