TikTok branding themselves as a search engine in new ad

In our trend report for 2023 we reported that young people increasingly use Instagram and TikTok as a search engine. Google’s own studies show that 40% of Gen Z have already adopted this behavior. TikTok has noticed this shift. Last year they dramatically increased the character limit on video descriptions and now they’ve released an ad in the UK with the tagline “Search it, learn”. Search on social media is here to stay, as a marketer we need to start working on our social media SEO strategy.
