Facebook is touted to introduce facial recognition in the Messenger app. It will work in the same way as fingerprint authentication works in the Facebook owned-instant messaging app WhatsApp (The upcoming feature has been discovered by the developer Jane Manchun Wong). Facebook has stated in the description of the feature that if the app is locked using the facial recognition feature, the user will be still able to reply messages from the notification panel and answer any incoming call in the Messenger app. Facebook has also stated that the Facial recognition data of the users will not be stored or used anywhere by the company.
